| Neurosis frontman Scott Kelly on “Water is Not Enough”
What is this song about? Basically, it’s inferring that blood would be the missing word. Water is not enough, ever. There needs to be blood.
The screeching sounds at the end are quite unnerving. Oh yeah. [Laughs] Definitely. Those are one of those moments where when that happened I think we all kind of sat there and kind of basked in the overall effect of that... “OK, that’s good. Don’t touch that. We’ll keep that one.”
How would you describe the song’s significance regarding the album’s other songs? I realize putting out the MP3 or whatever early, that’s all just part of what you do... But I honestly don’t really do a whole lot of separating between songs on records because everything that makes it to a record for us is something that we’re a hundred percent about. There’s never any filler or any song we don’t feel good about. I guess that the significance of it is that it’s just another piece of the puzzle
