Visto che non c'era un topic apposito ma si parla spesso del setup di Nate Newton (specie per quel che riguarda il basso), copio qua le classiche 6 questions di gearnerd.info

How long have you been playing?

I think i got my first guitar when i was 13 so that makes 22 years. Holy shit. I’m gonna die soon.

Do you have any music training?

I tried guitar lessons for about a month. Much like in school I had no attention span and couldn’t concentrate on learning theory or technique. My parents knew they were wasting their money. I just wanted to play along to my punk records anyways.

Who are your influences?

On bass? Daryl Jennifer, Chuck Dukowski, Mike Watt, JPJ, Dee Dee. I liked bassists that locked in with the drums and carried the songs but a the same time weren’t ostentatious. You could feel them there, but they weren’t in your face.

Guitar? Greg Ginn of course, Wino, Angus and Malcom Young, Thin Lizzy, Greg Sage, Ritchie Blackmore, Keith Huckins. I like good songs. I’ve never really appreciated “shredders”, to me it just sounds like the demo setting on a casio keyboard. A good solo means nothing in a bad song.

What piece of your “rig” can you not live without?

On bass it would be the AD200B no question. That is literally the only amp i’ve ever found that fit perfectly with the way i play. I have never been able to get a good sound out of an SVT.

On guitar it would have to be my SG. I’ve never owned a guitar that I love as much as that one. The first time I picked it up I knew immediately that it was going home with me. It plays better than any other Gibson I’ve ever owned, and it SCREAMS.

Do you prefer recording or playing live?

Playing live hands down. I have always loved the energy created between the band and the audience that eventually transforms the two into one entity. The band is the head and the audience is the body. I enjoy recording but its much more stressful and doesn’t have that same feeling of jubilation.
