Cult Of Luna, biografia e news

I Cult of Luna nascono nel 1998 a Umeå, in Svezia, sulle ceneri della hardcore band Eclipse e per mano del chitarrista Johannes Persson insieme al cantante Klas Rydberg.
Gią con il debut omonimo del 2001 la band ottiene un ottimo riscontro sia di pubblico che di critica e questo le vale il contratto con la Earache Records, loro label attuale.
Gli svedesi si imposero subito tra i migliori esponenti in campo post-core/metal con un sound, seppur chiaramente figlio dei Neurosis, decisamente distintivo oltre che pesantemente oppressivo.
Le cose perņ cambiano con la pubblicazione di Salvation, loro terzo album, ove la band mostra di sapersi evolvere verso un sound meno aggressivo e cupo, incorporando marcate influenze post rock; tale svolta permette ai Cult of Luna di allargare decisamente il proprio bacino d'audience, guadagnandosi anche positivi riscontri su molti magazine non prettamente legati a forme musicali estreme.

Dal punto di vista lirico la band svedese si contraddistingue per tematiche legate ai pericoli della globalizzazione e della propaganda politica, incorporando nei propri brani campionamenti e citazioni colte per esempio da estratti di Noam Chomsky e Benjamin Franklin, anche se con il nuovo Somewhere Along The Highway si avverte uno spostamento verso liriche pił personali e specificatamente legate alla solitudine.

Intervista

Fear falls burning/CoL

Belgian drone god, Fear falls burning, will perform together with Cult of Luna members Johannes Persson and Magnus Lindberg on the 1st of November. FFB will perform his whole new album "Frenzy of the absolute" which in addition to the CoL members includes Tim Bertilsson from Switchblade.
The show will take place in the Schouwburg Cultuurcentrum Luchtbal in Antwerpen, Belgium.
