ROADBURN 2016, Neurosis' 30th anniversary

The two sets will span the band’s entire career, showcasing Neurosis’ comprehensive evolution from their primitive beginnings to the seminal, epic outfit they are today – the band’s ever evolving, sonic palette has become a template for underground music over the last three decades, and resist genre classification.

Starting on Saturday night, and when closing the festival on Sunday night, Neurosis will delve into tracks from their entire discography – from debut release Pain of Mind right through to 2012’s Honor Found In Decay. Each set will be completely different, and each album will be explored, allowing the band and the audience alike to revisit various parts of the band’s history.

To celebrate the upcoming 15 year anniversary of their legendary “Jane Doe” album, Converge will perform the album in its entirety for the first and last time. The album is considered a classic that defined the metallic hardcore genre as we know it today. This special set is exclusive to the Roadburn Festival and will not be played again anywhere, ever.

Converge will play the “Jane Doe” album live in its entirety at Roadburn 2016 on Thursday, April 14.

Converge “Blood Moon” is a collaboration between members Jacob Bannon, Kurt Ballou, Nate Newton, and Ben Koller and guest musicians Chelsea Wolfe, Ben Chisholm, Stephen Brodsky, and Steve Von Till. Together as a multi-instrumental group they will create renditions of existing Converge material focusing on the band’s slower, more ambitious work within their legendary catalog.

Converge “Blood Moon” will perform live at Roadburn 2016 on Saturday, April 16.

2016 will mark a decade since Cult of Luna unleashed Somewhere Along The Highway – catapulting them to the top of end of year lists, and in to prized positions in record collections the world over. The raw – and at times visceral – album marked a departure from previous album, Salvation, in terms of both production and pure, naked energy.

Whilst the last ten years has seen the ascendency of Cult of Luna’s star, as well as two further stunning albums (2008’s Eternal Kingdom, and 2013’s Vertikal), Somewhere Along The Highway remains something of a marker in this history of the band. It seems fitting then, that just a week shy of the album’s official anniversary, Cult of Luna will be performing the album in full at the 013 venue on Thursday 14 April 2016.

Cult of Luna performed at both the 2008 and 2013 editions of Roadburn – and are among the most requested bands to warrant repeat bookings. This time around, they’ll be ramping up the intensity of their live performance a notch further than we even thought possible.

It’s an honour to welcome back Cult of Luna to Roadburn Festival; the threads of their influence are weaved throughout many of the bands that have appeared on our line ups over the years. Join us as we honour the seminal importance of Somewhere Along The Highway, and celebrate all that Cult of Luna have achieved since its inception.
